We process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
We collect data to provide and maintain our Service, analyze usage patterns to improve our content, detect and address technical issues, serve relevant advertisements (with your consent), and comply with legal obligations.

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time:
With your consent, our Service uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited ("Google"), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. GA4 uses cookies to analyze how users interact with our website.
GA4 collects data such as pages visited, time on page, interaction events (clicks, scrolls), and approximate geographic location. We have enabled IP anonymization, meaning your IP address is truncated before being transmitted to Google servers.
Data retention: We have set the GA4 data retention period to 14 months.
Data transfer: Google may transfer data to servers in the United States. This transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision by the European Commission, July 2023) and Google's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
We use Microsoft Clarity (provided by Microsoft Corporation) to capture aggregate behavioral metrics — click maps, scroll depth, session replays of anonymized interactions — that help us improve usability of AmericaByNumbers. Clarity is loaded only after you have given consent for Analytics cookies via our consent banner.
Strict Masking: Clarity is configured in Strict Masking mode. All text on the page (including any form input you might type) is masked before transmission to Microsoft. Sensitive personally identifiable information is therefore not captured by Clarity. See Microsoft documentation on Clarity masking modes for details.
How to opt out of Clarity:
With your consent, we use Google AdSense to serve advertisements on our website. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. These cookies allow Google and its partners to show you relevant advertisements.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or by declining the "Marketing" category in our Cookie Settings.
Some pages on this website contain affiliate links to third-party products and services (including CJ Affiliate / Commission Junction, MyPerfectResume, FlexJobs, and others). When you click on these links and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. These affiliate partners may set their own cookies when you click a link. For more details, see our Affiliate Disclosure.
If you sign up for our newsletter or download a free resource (such as our annual U.S. Salary Report PDF), we process your personal data to deliver the requested content and to keep you informed about new data, insights, and updates from AmericaByNumbers. Subscription is strictly opt-in and follows a confirmed double opt-in process. You can withdraw your consent at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email.
Our newsletter and lead-magnet delivery is operated through Kit, Inc. (formerly ConvertKit), a U.S.-based email marketing platform headquartered in Boise, Idaho, USA ("Kit"). Kit acts as our data processor under Article 28 GDPR. We have entered into a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Kit, available at kit.com/dpa. Kit's full privacy policy is available at kit.com/privacy.
Depending on the features used, the following categories of personal data may be processed by Kit on our behalf. We list these features comprehensively even if not all are currently active, so this notice remains accurate as we extend our newsletter operations:
Purpose: (i) Delivering the newsletter and any lead magnet you have explicitly requested; (ii) sending occasional updates about AmericaByNumbers; (iii) measuring newsletter performance to improve content; (iv) segmenting our list so we send you relevant content; (v) operating automated welcome sequences and re-engagement campaigns.
Legal basis: Your explicit consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, given when you submit one of our newsletter or lead-magnet forms and confirm your subscription via the double-opt-in email. Without this confirmation, your address is automatically deleted within approximately 30 days. The lawfulness of processing is documented under Art. 7(1) GDPR via signup IP, signup timestamp, and confirmation timestamp.
After you submit a newsletter or lead-magnet form, Kit sends you a confirmation email. Your address is added to our active subscriber list only after you click the confirmation link. If you do not confirm, your address is automatically deleted by Kit within approximately 30 days. This procedure complies with the German Telecommunications and Telemedia Data Protection Act (TTDSG) and recommended GDPR practice.
Kit is based in the United States and processes subscriber data on U.S. servers. This international transfer is protected by:
We retain your subscription data for as long as you remain an active subscriber. If you unsubscribe, your record is moved to a "cold/unsubscribed" status and retained for up to 24 months as proof of consent withdrawal and to prevent re-subscription via stale forms; after that period, the record is permanently deleted. Unconfirmed (pending double opt-in) subscriptions are deleted automatically within approximately 30 days. Engagement data older than 24 months is deleted or aggregated.
In addition to the general GDPR rights described in the section "European Privacy Rights" below, you can:
Effect of consent withdrawal: Withdrawing your consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing performed before the withdrawal.
When you submit one of our forms, Kit may set first-party cookies on your browser to remember your subscription state and to support form-display logic. These cookies do not contain advertising identifiers and are listed in our Cookie Table above (entries: ck_subscriber_id, ck_form_*_visited).
Our website is hosted on Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). Cloudflare acts as a content delivery network (CDN) and provides security services. Cloudflare may collect server log data including IP addresses, access times, and requested pages. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in providing a secure and efficient website. Cloudflare participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
For more information, see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Our website does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signals, as there is no uniform standard for how websites should interpret DNT. However, you can manage your tracking preferences using our cookie consent banner and the options described above.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@americabynumbers.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, such as the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA) in Bavaria, Germany.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) grant you the following rights:
To exercise these rights, contact us at info@americabynumbers.com. We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days.
Beyond California, the following U.S. state comprehensive consumer privacy laws may grant residents additional rights regarding our processing of their personal data. To the extent these laws apply to AmericaByNumbers, eligible residents may exercise the rights described below by contacting info@americabynumbers.com.
Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to: (a) confirm whether we process your personal data and access that data; (b) correct inaccurate personal data; (c) request deletion of your personal data; (d) obtain a portable copy of your personal data; (e) opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and certain forms of profiling. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Some sharing of online identifiers with advertising partners may, however, qualify as “sale” or “targeted advertising” under certain state laws — you may opt out at any time through our Cookie Settings or the Do Not Sell or Share page.
If we deny a request, you have the right to appeal that decision; submit appeals to info@americabynumbers.com with subject line “Privacy Appeal”. We will respond within the timeframe required by your state law (typically 45–60 days, with one possible extension).
We do not use, disclose, or process Sensitive Personal Information — as defined under the CPRA and analogous state laws (including precise geolocation, race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, mental or physical health diagnoses, sexual orientation, biometric data, or contents of private communications) — for the purpose of inferring characteristics about a consumer. We do not knowingly collect SPI in the ordinary course of operating AmericaByNumbers.
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out request from the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for residents of California (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado (CPA), and Connecticut (CTDPA), and we treat it as a universal opt-out for cross-context behavioral advertising under all applicable U.S. state privacy laws that recognize such signals. When a GPC signal is detected, we automatically apply the opt-out to your browser session.
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of your country of residence, including the United States. These transfers are protected by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), and other appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy:
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including HTTPS encryption on all pages and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Our Service is not directed at children. In accordance with the GDPR, we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 16 in the European Union. In accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 13 in the United States. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will delete the data.
In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the competent supervisory authority (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht) within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, in accordance with GDPR Article 33. If the breach is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will also notify affected individuals without undue delay (GDPR Article 34).
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
